As Queer News Tonights reports this evening the CDC reports that Americans, and LGBTQ Americans have lost a full year of their life. And we don’t mean in lockdown during pandemic but rather the actual number of breaths you are going to take in your life expectancy. A new report from National Center for Health Statistics, part of the CDC says life expectancy dropped to 77.8 years, a decline of 1 year from 2019. The average U.S. life expectancy dropped by a year in the first half of 2020, according to a new report from the National Center for Health Statistics, a part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Deaths from COVID-19 are the main factor in the overall drop in U.S. life expectancy between January and June 2020, the CDC says. But it's not the only one: A surge in drug overdose deaths are a part of the decline, too. The decline is for white LGBTQ americans. The news for life expectancy of Latinos loses a full two years. The news is worst of all for black LGBTQ americans as life expectancy for this group has dropped nearly 3 years of their life. These new CDC numbers are largely reflected on COVID-19 as 2/3rds of all excess death in the last year is attributed to the pandemic.
