South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem faces another setback as the state is ordered to pay $300,000 to a transgender advocacy group for wrongfully terminating a contract. The Transformation Project sued after Noem's administration canceled the agreement, citing opposition to government funding for the group. Noem's refusal to pay $39,000 to the organization has cost her a hefty settlement of $300,000, highlighting the price of bigotry, if we may say so. After the order, South Dakota Secretary of Health Melissa Magstadt issued a letter apologizing to the Transformation Project. Lead attorney Brendan Johnson commended the LGBTQ+ community's resilience.
