Conservatives in the media are attacking M&M's candy after they announced the release of candy packages with only the female characters, Green, Brown, and the new Purple. Fox co-host Martha MacCallum, Lisa Booth, and Tucker Carlson are ranting about these candies, while the Daily Wire editor Ben Shapiro has also joined them.
The limited edition candy package shows the three female characters upside down with the message “Supporting women flipping the status quo.” The packages will only contain green, brown, and purple M&Ms.
In a statement on the campaign, Gabrielle Wesley, Chief Marketing Officer, of Mars Wrigley North America, said that the new product was merely intended to celebrate and honor women. She said, “The M&M’S brand is on a mission to use the power of fun to create purposeful connections, as we work to create a world where everyone feels they belong.”
M&M said that it is donating up to $500,000 to “She Is The Music” and “We Are Moving the Needle”, two nonprofit organizations supporting women in the recording industry, and $300,000 to other nonprofit organizations.
As a matter of fact, this is far from the first time that conservatives have become outraged over M&M’s.
