Last week, Queer News Tonight reported on a new Burger King ad in Austria that celebrated Pride. The add showed a new "Pride Whopper". The sandwich appeared to be just a regular Whopper, but with either 2 top or 2 bottom buns. Most of Gay Twitter was confused by the ad, thinking that the buns represented gay sex. Apparently straight Twitter understood that the buns represented gender and not sex, but the message clearly missed the mark with the intended audience. The marketing agency that created the campaign, Jung von Matt Donau, has apologized. They stated on LinkedIn, “The intended message of the ‘Pride Whopper’ was to spread equal love and equal rights. Our strongest concern is if we offended members of the LGBTQ Community with this campaign. If this is the case, we truly apologize.”
