On Friday, President Joe Biden met with the congressional LGBTQ Equality Caucus, making him the first sitting President to do so. The Caucus includes each of the openly LGBTQ members of US House, and acts to guide the LGBTQ+ movement in Congress. The meeting was used to discuss issues that include the Equality Act. A spokesperson for Rep. Ritchie Torres said he brought up the Food & Drug Administration’s ban on blood donations from gay and bisexual men. Although the policy was relaxed in 2020, regulations still prohibited men from donating blood if they’ve had sex with another man in the past three months.
