America's religious landscape is shifting. Large numbers of Americans have left the most prevalent religion in the U.S.,Christianity. They are leaving in record numbers to join the growing ranks of those who describe themselves as atheist, agnostic, or religious "nones." What happens when Gen Alpha takes over. Gen Alpha you ask? The generation that is those born from 2000 to 2024. 2.5 million are being born a week and world wide by the end of this year there will be 2 billion Gen Alphas. The largest generation in history. And by the time Generation Alpha takes over, many believe that religion will be decreasing in America. According to Youth for Christ, Generation Alpha (Gen Alpha) will be pre-Christian, meaning most members will have no connection to the church. The members of Generation Alpha are generally the children of Millennials, the first generation who left religion and are not coming back. Springtide Research Institute reported that 52% of Gen Z have little to no trust in organized religion, and only 14% of this generation trusts organized religion completely. Even 49% of Catholic youths have little to no trust in organized religion, and only 16% of them say that they trust organized religion completely. Reports say these numbers for Gen Alpha may double in their rejection of church and faith. The growing percentage of nones does not just include white liberals but other demographic groups in America too. These people view churches as too conservative, particularly in terms of not being inclusive enough of women, blacks, and LGBTQ+ people. Will 'Gen Alpha' kill religion in America? Only time will tell. But statistics surely warn religious establishments in America to be more inclusive, futuristic, aware, and adaptive. The question is can they do this?
