Tomorrow is the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. At an annual forum held last week in Cyprus to honor the day, ILGA-Europe’s annual Rainbow Europe Map and Index was released. The map ranks the legal and policy situation of LGBTQ+ people in all 49 European countries. This year showed quite a few shakeups. While Malta continues to hold the #1 spot, Denmark jumped 7 places to take the #2 position. Iceland, Germany, and France also ranked well. The United Kingdom dropped 4 places from 10th to 14th, however. Currently the lowest ranked country is Poland, with Bulgaria and Romania helping to fill in the least safe places for LGBTQ+ individuals.
