Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is set to take control of Walt Disney World’s self-governing district, known as the Reedy Creek Improvement District, after the Florida Senate recently approved a bill that would subject it to state oversight. The bill is now awaiting the governor’s signature and, once signed, a five-member board will be appointed to oversee the government services that the district provides to the company’s properties in Florida.

The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation filed a complaint against the Orlando Philharmonic Plaza Foundation on Friday, February 10, 2023. The complaint states that the drag show, hosted on December 28, 2022, was advertised as “all ages” and that the warning about inappropriate content was “barely visible”.

The Missouri bill is more restrictive than Florida’s “don’t say gay” law passed last year. Florida prohibits instruction on gender identity and sexual orientation from kindergarten through third grade, but Missouri doesn’t specify a range.
