The small town of Montgomery, New York was thrown into chaos this weekend this weekend as the Montgomery Book Exchange hosted a drag queen story hour featuring drag performer Cookie Doe. Todd DeGroat, the owner of Popp’s Trophies in the town.
A school district in Nebraska is facing a lawsuit after a high school shut down its newspaper because students produced an LGBTQ+ edition. The lawsuit states that Grand Island Northwest Public Schools and its superintendent violated the First Amendment rights of students by axing the Viking Saga, which had been running for 54 years, in May 2022.
Grammy award-winning Michael Bublé, best known for his hit festive album Christmas, addressed the rising anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric in a new interview with The Guardian. A federal judge in Texas ruled that at least 12 books removed from public libraries by Llano County officials, many because of their LGBTQ+ and racial content, must be placed back onto shelves within 24 hours.
The LGBTQ+ community of Florida and across the country was in shock after learning that Outsports editor Cyd Zeigler, the co-founder Outsports, co-founder of National Gay Flag Football League, and current writer at Outsports and SBNation, announced via Twitter that he was joining the Republican Party and backing Ron DeSantis.
Marc Ramirez of USA Today says that the support for the community has been on a steady and sometimes rocky climb. But some feel that the really hot issues that get the attention of the legislators become somewhat of political opportunism to swing voters in close races to win over conservative voters.
