Sergio Aragon and Jesus Gutierrez’s biggest moments as the founders of Gay Pride Apparel involved seeing their designs out in the wild, including being worn by the likes of actors Lili Reinhart and Frankie Grande. Now they can add another milestone to the list: launching an exclusive collection at Walmart stores across the country in honor of Pride Month in June. In November 2022, an email from someone purporting to work for Walmart landed in Aragon and Gutierrez’s inbox.

Wilton Manors Residents and Businesses Divided on Major Redevelopment Project

Monday’s Planning and Zoning Board meeting will discuss some make-or-break requests from the developer, and it’s shaping up to be a packed house, with businesses and residents alike weighing in on the pros and cons of adding a parking garage and a 250-unit mixed-use residential building. Concerns about disruption during construction, adding a mid-rise structure to the skyline, and parking spot size will be addressed.
These are all valid and common concerns I’ve heard when covering development stories. But what makes this unique is another concern: LGBTQ+ heritage. New housing brings new residents, and there’s a good chance we will see an influx of heterosexual residents, with “straight” new businesses to follow. On its surface, that’s fine, Wilton Manors welcomes everyone, and “heterosexual” and “straight” don’t mean “anti-LGBTQ+.”

$175k Awarded To South Florida “Gay Conversion Therapy” Providers In Federal Judgement

A federal judge has ordered Palm Beach County and the city of Boca Raton to pay $175,000 to two family therapists who challenged a local ban on gay conversion therapy for minors struggling with their sexuality, gender identity, and faith. Robert Otto and Julie Hamilton ran afoul of Boca Raton’s ban on conversion therapy, which considered the practice harmful to the health and emotional development of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and other youth.

Florida Senate Votes 28-12 To Ban Children At Drag Shows

On April 8th, 2023, the Florida Senate voted 28-12 in favor of a bill that would allow the state to revoke liquor licenses of restaurants and entertainment venues that let children attend drag shows. The bill’s language defined drag performance as “prurient, shameful, or morbid interest” that violates what adults deem appropriate for children to witness.

A politician in France has become the first female minister to come out as gay in the country after revealing her sexuality in an interview.
Democratic Movement politician and youngest serving minister Sarah El Haïry revealed that she is queer and is currently dating someone.
The 33-year-old state secretary for youth at the Ministry of National Education casually mentioned her partner while discussing whether she uses Twitter.
