OutSFL is one of the nation's great names for LGBTQ+ news. Tomorrow will be the first edition of OUTSFL of 2024 and it’s extra special for all of us and the fans of Happening Out Television Network. Tomorrow the media company will announce their person of the year. And it hits very close to home. We are showing you the new cover announcing that OUTSFL 2023 ‘Person of the year’ is Fay What. The cover story is written by me. An anchor here at Queer News Tonight, host of It’s Happening Out and star of The Fay What Show, all on ROKU and Apple TV has had a major impact on the South Florida community. It’s especially noteworthy the bridge Fay represents for the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Trans communities. That was exactly the point that Darren Loli, Executive Producer at Happening Out Television Network and Vice President of Hotspots Happening Out said “She’s been with us 2 1⁄2 years. What’s super important and unique about Fay is Fay acts like a bridge between the ‘L’ and the ‘G.’ That’s really important because when our community works together like that, we can accomplish so much more.” A decade ago, Fay lost her radio career, her home and nearly her life to alcoholism. She now celebrates nine years in recovery, a happy marriage to a loving wife and streaming television fame with 500,000 worldwide subscribers as a leading voice in the South Florida LGBTQ community. Selection of South Florida’s Person Of The Year is well earned. She hosted historic broadcasts of Queer News Tonight during the Gaza War at Egypt's Giza Plateau at the Great Pyramid, the evening news show at the top of the Acropolis in Athens at the Parthenon and Temple of Athena. She has hosted some of the most important LGBTQ+ events and charity fundraisers in our community. In 2023 she interviewed some of the most influential and interesting people and has made a mainstay of doing something never done before. A morning queer television show where the joke is that ‘gay boys wont talk to her because she is a lesbian and it’s 9 am in the morning. So she does the entire show in bed with gay boys. And the guests, like the Mayor of Wilton Manors and famous and important names, love it. It’s appropriately called The Fay What Show and its opening is a wink and a nod to pioneers like Mary Tyler Moore and Marlo Thomas. You can read the complete story in OUTSFL on stands tomorrow.
