Tonight, We Are Pleased To Feature The Opening Night Drive-In Film “Potato Dreams Of America”. Closely Based On The Writer/Director’s Life, "Potato Dreams Of America" Is A Dark Autobiographical Comedy About A Gay Boy Growing Up In The Collapsing USSR, His Courageous Mail-Order Bride Mother And Their Adventurous Escape To America. Full Of Unexpected Twists, The Film Is An Immigrant's Take On The American Dream And The Power Of Cinema, Proving That Life Is Often Stranger Than Fiction. Joining Us Tonight Is Director Wes Hurley. He Was Born Vasili Naumenko In The Soviet Union. After Immigrating To The U.S. With His Mother, He Studied Drama, Interdisciplinary Arts And Film At The University Of Washington. He Has Written, Directed And Produced Dozens Of Award-Winning Queer Shorts, Three Feature Films And Two Seasons Of "Capitol Hill". His 2017 Short "Little Potato" Won Jury Prize At SXSW Along With 27 Other Awards Around The World. We Are Also Thrilled To Have Actor Hersh Powers With Us, Who Played The Role Of Little Potato In The First Half Of The Movie.
