As Pride Month unfolds, it provides an opportune time to reflect on the progress made in recognizing and understanding the LGBTQIA+ community. A recently conducted survey by Ipsos has unveiled some intriguing insights into the representation and prevalence of queer individuals in 30 countries worldwide. The findings reveal that approximately 9% of adults in these countries identify themselves as LGBTQIA+.
The survey, conducted online, garnered participation from over 22,514 individuals under the age of 75. Spanning from 17 February to 3 March 2023, this comprehensive study sought to capture a snapshot of the diverse spectrum of sexual orientations and gender identities present globally.
One of the standout discoveries from the survey was the pronounced presence of LGBTQIA+ identification among the younger generations. Gen Z and Millennials demonstrated a greater inclination to identify as queer, bisexual, pansexual, omnisexual, or asexual.
