Residents of Surfside staged a protest yesterday in response to a decision by the newly elected Mayor Schlomo Danzinger to not fly the Pride flag on the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. The protests follow a statement by Mayor Danzinger to the Miami Herald where he stated that he feared the flying of a Pride flag would lead to the city being required to fly satanic flags or swastika flags saying, "You’re opening yourself up to these elements, which I’d really like to keep away from. It’s not that it’s not allowed, it’s either all or none and we didn’t want to open it up."
