The Miami-Dade School Board allowed dozens of public speakers on Wednesday to express their diverse stands on a resolution to identify October as LGBTQ History Month. The resolution however didn’t get passed. Andrea S. Pita Mendez, the school board’s student advisor, expressed her fear during the meeting as there was tension among speakers with polarized views on the subject.
