With Halloween on Monday, it feels like we’re at the start of a long weekend. In this week’s SFGN, online now and on stands tomorrow, I preview the LGBT parties set for this weekend. #southfloridagaynews SAVE’s MasQUEERade Ball is Friday night at a rooftop venue with panoramic views of Miami. Saturday night, Lesbian Thespians have their party at the ArtServe building in Fort Lauderdale. Cannonball, a relatively new event in its third year, is having a weekend long party with spa days, pool parties, dances and costumes. This party is for chubs and chasers and emphasizes body positivity in a very fun atmosphere. And of course, there’s Wicked Manors, the crown jewel of LGBTQ+ Halloween parties in Wilton and the south east. The street party is on Monday, Halloween, and starts at 5pm and ends at 11. Up to 40 thousand people are expected, and Hotspots will have a stage in the Alibi parking lot. All the events will have costume parties, cocktails, candy, and all the other spooky accoutrements of the season. One thing they all have in common is they’re bringing LGBTQ+ together. Friend of the show and SAVE’s Executive Director Orlando Gonzalez told me, “It’s always a weekend that leads up to election day. This is a chance to emphasize the message of get out the vote, and undoubtedly see costumes that poke fun or highlight the politics of the last year.” You can get details on all the parties in this week’s SFGN online and on stands tomorrow.
