Seven months after announcing his pregnancy, Lil Nas X delivers. No, he’s not delivering yet another screaming child into the world.. he’s delivering money and awareness. In this week’s SFGN, online and on stands tomorrow, I look at how the transformational singer is impacting local advocacy organization, TransInclusive Group. Last autumn, Lil Nas X set up a “baby registry” to coincide with the release of his first album. Each track was dedicated to a specific charity, with donations made to the title track, Montero, benefitting TransInclusive Group. Now the numbers are in, and the baby registry raised a half million dollars for all the charities. Tatiana Williams, Executive Director of TransInclusive Group, said “Being included on Lil Nas X’s registry has provided invaluable visibility to the important work TransInclusive Group is doing in South Florida and beyond and we are grateful for the outpouring of support and love that we have seen as a result.” TransInclusive also held a night to spotlight local artists on Trans Day of Visibility. It’s all putting our community in a position to be celebrated, not shunned, seen, and not hidden.
