Have you ever wanted to visit Israel? The cradle of world history, yes. yes But Tel Aviv. the men, men. We always joke that we live in “The gayest place on planet earth”. But did you know that Tel Aviv is the gayest place on the other side of the Atlantic? Gosh, I wish I could go to one of the greatest pride events in the world, Tel Aviv Pride? Ok, El Al Airlines would like to celebrate our best thing of the week, with two best things of the week. And to celebrate our next story let’s celebrate with El Al Airlines. El Al Airlines is excited to welcome you on a non-stop flight to Israel and Tel Aviv Pride from Miami. Wait. Just wait. We’re in Fort Lauderdale. Ok, ok, best thing of the week, El Al Airlines announces tonight on It’s Happening Out that later this year they will launch a new flight from gay Fort Lauderdale to gay Tel Aviv. Non-stop. Then connections to all of Israel, Europe and the middle east.. To celebrate this amazing announcement for the South Florida LGBTQ+ community they wish to have us do a bonus “Best Thing Of The Week.” This week Iowa volunteer English Teacher Julie Ross attended Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Presidential campaign rally, “I mean book signing” and presented him a hand cut snowflake art piece. Ross said “In 2016, I made it a goal to hear every Republican [presidential] candidate, ask them a question, and get a selfie with them. I got about 15. I decided to take advantage of the access. When it came time for Trump, I knew he wasn’t taking questions. So I decided to cut him a whole stack of snowflakes with words you probably can’t publish.” She has done this for Ted Cruz, Ben Carson and more. One of our favorites is Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley. The snowflake said “Shame”. While presenting the gift she unbuttoned her blouse with a black t-shirt that said “Dear America, Sorry About Charles Grassley. Sincerely, Iowa”. No one noticed at the time of the photograph the snowflake message or the words on her shirt. So Now DeSantis. This week she presented a Snowflake, often referred to as a GOP slur on progressives. So naturally the Governor easily took the bait to pose for a picture and accept the snowflake. Except he never wants to be educated on history. Otherwise he would have known about the trap getting ready to be sprung. Ross had hand-cut the word “fascist” into the design. She takes this picture, and the rest as they say is history. Raygun T-shirt brand announced today they are launching 4 shirts inspired by and with approval of Julie Ross including “Beware of fascist snowflakes”, “from Iowa with love” and “Sharp Scissors Make Nasty snowflakes”. Proceeds will benefit NAACP, the Chicago Teachers Union and the News Literacy Project. I’m sure all on the Ron DeSantis charity approved list. #funny #iowa #school #teacher #jule#talk #show #funnyshow #gay #lesbian #laugh #sexy #drag #iho #its #happeningout #itshappeningout
