GLSEN believes that every student has the right to a safe, supportive, and LGBTQ-inclusive K-12 education. Recently, a user shared a post by GLSEN on r/ainbow community of Reddit. It was a series of infographics by GLSEN celebrating the Day of Silence. The GLSEN Day of Silence is a national student-led demonstration where LGBTQ+ students and allies all around the country—and the world—take a vow of silence to protest the harmful effects of harassment and discrimination against LGBTQ+ people in schools. According to the statistics shared in those infographics, half of the LGBTQ+ students of color face in-person victimization based on race and ethnicity. GLSEN also says that more than 30% of LGBTQ+ students reported missing school as they felt unsafe and uncomfortable. You can find more about it on GLSEN.org.
