Florida students are learning an unfortunate lesson on institutional bigotry, as the state’s “Parental Rights in Education” law, aka “Don’t Say Gay” law, remains intact to do the damage. As if this is not enough, The Miami-Dade School Board is set to vote on whether teaching LGBTQ history is “age appropriate” for high school seniors. This nine-members strong board will decide whether Miami-Dade schools should be allowed to include two crucial LGBTQ rights supreme court cases in the 12th-grade social studies curriculum. The board will also decide whether the district that is responsible for educating over 334K students, should recognize October as LGBTQ History Month. Find out more at www.queerty.com
