While HIV and AIDS have fallen out of the spotlight in recent years, the epidemic is far from over. An estimated 1.1 million people in the US are living with HIV, and 15% of them don’t know it. Florida AIDS Walk works to bring attention to this pressing issue, educate and inspire our community to work together, and end the epidemic once and for all. The walk is a great way to give back to your community. This year, the walk was organized on March 18. This 5K walk started and finished at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park. The program started at 8 AM with DJ Ed Talks on stage and the walk began at 10 AM. The walk has raised around $2 million so far. These funds will be used to support HIV/AIDS services throughout Florida. The benefiting organizations include AHF, Broward House, Equality Florida Institute, Latinos Salud, AQUA, Pridelines, Safe School South Florida, SunServe, World AIDS Museum And Educational Center, Trans Inclusive Group, Save LGBTQ, and Afro Pride Florida.
