On Sunday, February 19, 2023, the streets of Little Havana in Miami came alive with the vibrant and colorful 7th annual Gay8 (Gay Ocho) Festival. This festival is the largest Latino LGBTQ+ festival in America, dedicated to showcasing the best of LGBTQ+ art, music, dance, food, and culture.
A Miami man is facing life in prison after pleading guilty to a series of carjackings, kidnappings, robberies, and assaults targeting gay men he met on Grindr. Stevenson Charles, 21, admitted to engaging in an escalating series of crimes against five gay men from October 23 to November 6 of last year. He pleaded guilty to 17 different charges related to the crime spree.
In a letter to the city council titled ‘Hernandez v. City of Cape Coral,’ the city manager accuses Cape Coral of retaliation for blowing the whistle on what Hernandez calls discriminatory employment practices.
Hernandez laid out four examples. The first pertains to the economic and business development officer, T. Sharon Woodberry. Hernandez says after some council members learned she was African American, they began to question her selection and implied racial stereotypes.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is now home to a new and meaningful addition to its streets: a progress pride flag crosswalk. This 18 by 75-foot crosswalk was unveiled on February 9th, just in time for the city’s Pride of the Americas Festival.
