Brazilian Actor Is Receiving Death Threats Over Kissing Scene In Prime Time Soap Opera

Kissing scenes between same-sex characters are rare in Brazilian soap operas that air during primetime on Globo, the largest commercial TV network in all of Latin America. Somehow, though, viewers of Globo’s current primetime soap opera, Terra e Paixão, fell in love with two LGBTQ+ characters who have maintained a flirtatious and romantic dynamic between them. The characters are played by Amaury (Ah-mah- uh -ree) Lorenzo and Diego Martins. As a matter of fact, as per the leaked video on this week, the soap Opera has also received Globo’s Breakout Actor of the Year. However, when Globo aired the first kissing scene between the LGBTQ+ characters Ramiro and Kelvin on Terra e Paixão on December 12, homophobic and racist conservatives started going crazy. Following the video kissing scene on Terra e Paixão, Lorenzo took to social media to expose the despicable comments and death threats that he’s been receiving.
