Big Brother UK’s contestant Hallie has come out as trans to the rest of the house, telling her housemates that she wants to express her identity loud and clear. She is one of 16 housemates to enter the iconic Big Brother house for this new season on Sunday, October 8. Despite swiftly becoming an early fan favorite, Hallie also became the target of bigots who mocked her perceived trans identity – even before she disclosed it herself in Monday’s episode. Big Brother viewers and her housemates also celebrated Hallie coming out and praised her courage. However, some social media users have criticized the show of wokeness for the diversity of its castmates.
