Aqua Foundation for Women, a non-profit organization in Florida, dedicated to serving and supporting LGBTQ+ women since 2004, has partnered with Hot Spots Happening Out Television Network’s 10 pillars of the LGBTQ+ community. They are celebrating the best lesbian and Sapphic coming-of-age movies of all time.
Being a lesbian or queer woman is already challenging, but being those things as a teenager is a whole other world of difficulty. Fortunately, some of the best movies about queer women also happen to be coming-of-age films. These movies explore what it means to be a girl, a woman, a lesbian, and queer. They explore female friendships, relationships with parents, school issues, and the future, and they do it excellently.
Aqua Girls celebrate such movies on the backdrop of the coming June pride month. They encourage viewers to watch movies like “But I’m a Cheerleader,” “Pariah,” “The Half of It,” “Booksmart,” “The Miseducation of Cameron Post,” “Alice Jr,” “Princess Cyd,” “Blockers,” “Mosquita y Mari,” and “Crush,” many of which are directed by women and queer women.
It is noteworthy that nearly all of these movies are directed by women, and six are directed by queer women. The reason for this is simple: they know the type of stories they want to see, and they are the best at telling them.
LGBTQ+ news is vital for our community and for the broader world as a whole. We have enough enemies at Fox News, where Tucker, Sean, and Lara are loud. We need passionate allies. Happening on Television Network Queer News Tonight and It’s Happening Out are literally out of the closet and into the headlines.
Our community needs your support. Like this broadcast, subscribe now to ensure the growth of the entire LGBTQ+ community. By watching and supporting movies like these, we can celebrate and uplift the stories of LGBTQ+ people and show the world the beauty and diversity of our community.
In conclusion, Aqua Girls celebrates the best lesbian and Sapphic coming-of-age movies of all time in honor of pride month. These movies are not only entertaining but also important for exploring the experiences of queer women. By supporting these films, we can support the entire LGBTQ+ community and promote inclusivity and diversity.
