A new report from the Public Religion Research Institute shows that while support of the LGBTQ+ community in the US has been rising, Republicans and white evangelical Protestants have “consistently lagged” in their support for key policies. Those findings are part of a 7 year study known as the "American Values Atlas Program". Since 2014, PRRI — a Washington, D.C.-based research firm focused on the intersection of religion, values and public life — has been surveying Americans about LGBTQ+ issues such as marriage, housing and job protections, and if they support small businesses' ability to deny service to members of the LGBTQ+ community.
