Queer News Tonight is proud to support our local influencers, personalities, drag queens, and entertainers here in South Florida, and tonight we are happy to feature Pioneer Winter. He is a Miami-based Choreographer and Dance Artist and directs Pioneer Winter Collective, a group of artists, activists and allies in their own right, whose bodies and voices transform their social, political, and cultural landscapes.
Pioneer Winter Collective is a physically integrated dance-theater company, rooted in social practice and community, queer visibility and beauty beyond the mainstream. Recognized in Dance Magazine 25 to Watch, it democratizes performance in public spaces, museums, galleries, stage, and film. He has also curated and directed the ScreenDance Miami Festival, and serves as Assistant Teaching Professor in the FIU Honors College.
Recently, he has been commissioned by the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, with his work supported by local, state, and foundation grants and fellowships. His latest project “Birds of Paradise” is set to premiere at the Adrienne Arsht Center in late 2021. He is the Adrienne Arsht Center’s first Artist-in-Residence collaboration in over a decade.
To tell us more about his upcoming projects including “Birds of Paradise”, is Choreographer & Dance Artist, Pioneer Winter. Welcome Pioneer to Q News Tonight!
