The 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards Final Voting began on January 17 and will close on February 23 at 3 PM EST. The awards will be streamed live on Netflix on February 24 at 8 PM EST from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles. In its third consecutive year, Selena Gomez is nominated for Outstanding Ensemble in a Comedy Series for Only Murders in the Building. Some of the other queer favorite nominations include Bradley Cooper in Outstanding Performance by a male actor in a leading role category for Maestro and Annette Bening is nominated in the same category female for her role in and as Nyad. Jodie Foster also gets nominated for Nyad Female Actor in a Supporting Role category. The Color Purple cast also secures 2024 SAG Award nominations. On the film side, Barbie and Oppenheimer lead with four nominations each, trailed by American Fiction and Killers of the Flower Moon. For TV, Comedy Ensemble nominees are Abbott Elementary, Barry, The Bear, Only Murders in the Building, and Ted Lasso. The awards are voted on by SAG-AFTRA’s membership of 119,515 eligible voters, the largest voting body on the awards circuit. One of them is Fort Lauderdale's Stonewall Museum Director and Queer News Tonight anchor, Robert Kesten. And we know who he has voted for. It is none other than, Annette Bening And Jodie Foster of their film Nyad. Nyad is based on the life of Diana Nyad, an American journalist and distance swimmer who became the first person to swim from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage. She was also featured in The Right Side of History: 100 Years of LGBTQ.
