It is with great concern and heartfelt wishes that we learn of the critical injuries sustained by Pride Fort Lauderdale President Mike Martorell in a workplace accident yesterday. Reports indicate that an apparent fall has resulted in severe injuries, including a dislocated elbow, broken arm with a bone exposed, fractured facial bones, and black eyes.
While graphic images of Mike's condition have circulated privately within the South Florida LGBTQ+ community, out of respect for privacy and sensitivity, we have chosen not to share them publicly.
In related news, the Pride Fort Lauderdale February beach parade and festival, originally scheduled for this year, has unfortunately been canceled due to these unforeseen circumstances. The event is now rescheduled to take place in February 2025. Despite this setback, Mike Martorell announced that Pride On The Drive in Wilton Manors will expand to two days this February.
During this challenging time, the entire team at Hotspots Magazine and Happening Out Television Network extends our sincere wishes for Mike's swift and complete recovery. Our thoughts are with him, his family, and the Pride Fort Lauderdale community.
