Out British diver Tom Daley won his first Olympic gold medal on Monday with diving partner Matty Lee in the men’s synchronized 10-meter platform in Tokyo. Daley, 27, won Bronze medals at the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympic Games. He first competed in the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 at 14. He inspires the LGBTQ+ community in his persistence as Daley rejected notions of retiring after this Olympics and now wins a gold medal. In an interview Daley said, “You want to win an Olympic gold medal but never think you actually will. I will carry on, but I will definitely take a break. There are some beverages with my name on it to celebrate with my husband and family.”
