Denne Michele Norris has become the first Black and openly trans editor in chief of a major U.S. literary publication. The acclaimed author, podcast host, and essayist will take charge of the cutting-edge digital publication Electric Literature, Publishers Weekly reports. Norris co-hosts the popular Food 4 Thot podcast alongside Tommy Pico, Joseph Osmundson, and Fran Tirado, which its creators characterize as "Like NPR, on poppers." The Harlem resident, who uses she/they pronouns, came out as trans earlier this year. Electric Literature was originally minted as a quarterly publication, and the first fiction magazine designed for iPhone and iPad. Its content reaches a digital readership of 5 million annually.
