Jeanette Jennings, the mother of transgender activist Jazz Jennings, spoke with Al Ferguson on his show “Unapologetically Queer With Al Ferguson” about the challenges that the trans community faces and how parents can support their trans children.
During the interview, Ferguson asked Jennings about the minority voice within the LGBTQ+ community that suggests removing the “T” from the acronym would benefit the rest of the community. Jennings responded by saying that the trans community has always been a part of the LGBTQ+ community and that rejecting them is self-serving and wrong.

Jennings also addressed the recent attacks on the trans community, saying that parents of trans children need to love their child unconditionally and be willing to take a bullet for them because “the world is cruel” and trans children are particularly vulnerable.
When asked if she thought parents of trans children would ultimately win the fight for their children's rights, Jennings replied that although the road ahead may be rough, parents are on the right side of history and that eventually, things will change for the better.
The interview with Jeanette Jennings provides an important perspective on the importance of supporting trans children and standing up for the trans community. It is a reminder that love and acceptance are crucial in the fight for trans rights and that parents have a vital role to play in this fight.
