Online and on stands this week, Governor DeSantis and his Republican supporters continue attacks on LGBTQ+. Reporter Christiana Lilly looks at The Florida Board of Medicine's decision to ban gender-affirming care for trans youth. The vote was unanimous despite volumes of testimony and evidence showing these regulations will cause long term damage.
Also: I look at how DeSantis and his enablers are weaponizing the state’s bureaucracy against LGBTQ+. Innocent events like drag shows are being reported to Florida’s Department of Business and Professional Regulation which has broad powers to disrupt a business by closing it down or revoking its liquor license.
Finally, the Stonewall Pride Parade and Street Festival in Wilton Manors is still four months away, but preparations are already underway. The city’s has approved a permit for the party and is working with producers to avoid a repeat of last year’s last minute, unforeseen costs.
