Lesbian athlete Joan Joyce was a softball legend, having struck out Baseball Hall of Famers Ted Williams and Hank Aaron. She was also the women's softball coach at Florida Atlantic University in Boca. Joan Joyce was a basketball legend. When she played for the Amateur Athletic Union, she had a career scoring average of 30 points per game, and in a time before the 3-pointer was introduced. Joan Joyce was a volleyball legend. She competed in the United State's Volleyball Association's national tournament and was selected for the All-East Regional Team. Joan Joyce was a bowling legend, winning the Connecticut state title less than a month after starting the sport and declining an offer to go professional. Joan Joyce was a golf legend, qualifying for the LPGA tour after only playing for 2 years, and at 42 set a record for the fewest putts in a single round. She also became the head women's golf coach at FAU. She was the greatest female athlete of all time, and she passed away in Boca at age 81 on March 26th. She truly made an impact on Women's History Month, both with her life and her passing.
