This evening Queer News Tonight will report an in depth expose on the growing attacks on the Trans community and specifically the major issues to the rising Transgender murders in the United State. Queer News Tonight has looked at the last five years of transgender homicides. This collective time period is important because it allows us to provide comparisons to the rise of anti-LGBTQ attitudes specifically toward the Trans community with the election of Donald Trump in 2016 and then the significant increase of national conversation and the largest number of anti-LGBTQ and trans bills by states in 2021 and 2022.
The statistics are alarming as we find that hate crimes dramatically spiked, there was a significant rise in intimate-partner violence as homicides reached record levels. We also reveal the vulnerabilities to sex workers, the stark number of unsolved cases, how trans bias affects police investigation and the entire criminal-justice system and more.
We conclude this has been closely linked to an Anti-trans President Trump and a political system that has spoken and enacted laws that have incited this significant increase in violence against the trans community. It appears there is a direct correlation to what we call “voice to violence” that is a result of this culture war wave we are experiencing.
