Actor Kevin Conroy, who was best known for his voice work portraying Batman, has passed away at 66 after a short battle with cancer. He first became famous playing Gotham's protector in 'Batman: The Animated Series' from 1992 to 1996. He continued to play the character after that in 15 films, 15 animated series, and 24 video games. He was also one of the first openly LGBTQ+ individuals to portray a superhero. In 'DC Pride 2022', Conroy wrote an autobiographical comic called 'Finding Batman' discussing his struggles of finding work as an openly gay actor, as well as losing friends during the AIDS crisis before getting the role as Batman. DC Comics issued a statement that read, "DC is deeply saddened at the passing of the legendary actor, and the voice of Batman for legions of fans, Kevin Conroy. His iconic voice made Batman real not only through his work in Batman: The Animated Series, but a host of animated features, video games and more." As a tribute to his impact on the community, DC has made their annual Pride anthology free to read for all fans. #entertainment
