Last year the Colorado State Board of Education made recommendations that would standardize the discussion of LGBTQ+ topics and discussion of marginalized communities at all grade levels, after those topics had previously been removed from school curricula. In a Monday statement to The Christian Post, a spokesperson for the Colorado Statewide Parent Coalition wrote, "The cuts that were made to eliminate certain references to the LGBTQ community and the realities of racism in our history perpetuate xenophobia, homophobia and false understandings of our collective histories." These new standards will take effect next year. #education
