The Umbrella Academy is about a different kind of family. Each member of the family was born on the same day, by mothers who became pregnant on that day, and each has a special power. They're dysfunctional, they fight often, and they've nearly ended the world twice. In season 2, Vanya fell in love with a woman in 1963. In Season 3, Vanya is inspired by that woman (named Sissy) to be true to themself. After getting a short haircut in Episode 2, they introduce themselves as Viktor. In a series of moments that should help many people understand how to deal with trans family members who come out, the Umbrella Academy family accepts Viktor without any questions asked.
