The Wilton Manors, Fla., mayor, and commission have given themselves a massive pay raise. On Tuesday night, 5 elected officials voted to boost the mayor’s annual pay from $11,250 to $30,000 which is a 166% jump and to increase the commissioners' pay from $9,750 to $25,000, that’s a hike of 156%. The salary increase requires a second commission vote on September 13th and will take effect on October 1st. The future salary increases will be automatic to equal the cost-of-living raises given to non-union employees. This move comes after a recent survey discovered that Wilton Manors' mayor and commissioners were towards the bottom of the pay scale.
