Protestors from the National Straight Pride Coalition organized a Straight Pride event that ended in violence outside a Planned Parenthood in Modesto, California, on August 27th. Police had to intervene to stop the clashes between the Proud Boys, an anti-LGBTQ and anti-abortion far-right group behind the Capitol riots, and the LGBTQ+ counter-protestors. They called the gathering an ‘unlawful assembly’ and asked both groups to disperse after they started to throw objects, including a firecracker that ignited a bush. Police wore tactical riot gear and eventually chose to use pepper ball guns to clear out the area.
