As we previously reported on Queer News Tonight, Atlanta strip club Swinging Richards closes for good on January 15. The all-male nude revue bar has been running for over three decades. Swinging Richards first filed for bankruptcy in 2019 but managed to claw itself back from the brink of closure. However, the COVID-19 pandemic hit the business with one fatal last blow. Strip clubs have often been the only place sex workers could solicit clients in a safe environment, but pandemic has changed that for many. Strip clubs which generally don't focus on the social aspect of most gay bars, have been hit especially hard by this. As with many other businesses, sex work went digital due to Covid-19, with many dancers moving to OnlyFans.com and JustFor.Fans for income. Will strip clubs become a thing of the past as new income sources for sex workers open up? Only time will tell.
