Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of England who many have compared to Donald Trump, announced his resignation this morning. Johnson, as the highest ranking member of Britain's Conservative Party, popularly known as the "Tories", will be replaced by another member of the party. Currently there are a large number of people contending for the top position, and sadly for the UK's LGBTQ+ community, many of them have used arguments against us for political gain in recent years. Many are hopeful that Penny Mordaunt, who served as Minister for Women and Equalities under Prime Minister Theresa May will get the position. Jayne Ozanne, who formerly was on the government's LGBT Advisory Panel said to PinkNews in an interview, “She has shown herself to be fully committed to the LGBTQ+ community and has consistently delivered on her promises. She is a woman of deep integrity and principle, who has won the trust and respect of MPs right across the house."
