Despite the robust performance of the economy under President Biden, a surprising sentiment persists among some Americans that Trump would handle economic matters better. The January jobs report by The White House, revealing a healthy addition of 353,000 jobs, contributes to the narrative of a thriving labor market. With an unemployment rate of 3.7%, the economy seems to be on a steady trajectory. However, concerns linger regarding certain economic indicators. Gas prices, for instance, have fluctuated dramatically since 2020, experiencing a sharp increase that peaked at nearly $5 a gallon in June 2022. While prices have since decreased, they remain elevated compared to pre-pandemic levels. Similarly, inflation has soared to its highest levels in over 40 years, despite recent moderation. However, these economic realities must be understood against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, during which almost every country in the world was hit hard. A belief that Trump's economic policies were superior is also concerning, given the current political landscape, where culture wars and divisive rhetoric are on the rise. The 1992 successful presidential campaign of Bill Clinton was about "It's the economy, stupid," reminding voters to focus on the key economic issue that was driving voters' concerns at the time. But in 2024, voters must know that the polarization that conservatives bringing into American society is lethal. The cultural war and hatred not only threaten the LGBTQ+ community but also undermine societal cohesion and stability. After all, “It’s America, Stupid."
In 1992, Clinton Said It’s The Economy Stupid, In 2024, Is That True For America And LGBTQ
