The Russian government has made no secret of the fact that they dislike the LGBTQ+ community, with bans on gay content in media and the "gay purge" in the Russian territory of Chechnya. But the LGBTQ+ is fighting back. Vlad Shast has gone from performing in drag shows to volunteering with the Ukrainian Territorial Defense. Now he uses his contacts from doing drag and being a stylist to help find and organize materials and supplies for the army. In an interview he said, "If Russia wins, it means darkness. There will be no freedom, no opportunity to be yourself, no rights for diverse communities."
