Chechen Leader Who Masterminded Gay Torture & Execution Policy Killed In Ukraine

The Russian republic of Chechnya has made news in recent years for the torture and execution of LGBTQ+ individuals by the government. Chechen authorities subscribe to the Stalinist idea of “shared responsibility,” blaming families for raising “public enemies” and punishing them if they don’t help persecute and murder relatives in so-called “honor killings.” One of the Chechen leaders responsible for many such atrocities was Magomed Tushayev. Tushayev was head of the 141 motorized regiment of the Chechnya National Guard when he was killed during a battle to take over an international cargo airport near Kyiv.
